1. Apply
Apply for the position you are interested in through Seek, LinkedIn, the Repurpose It website or other relevant industry associations. Include an up-to-date resume with your current contact details, including phone number and email address. Your cover letter should include a summary of your work experience and why it is relevant to the position; the key skills you can bring to the position; why the position is of interest to you; and why you want to work at Repurpose It. You will receive an email response acknowledging that your application has been received.
2. Application is reviewed
Our team will review your application in line with the selection criteria. If we think you’re a suitable applicant for the position, we will contact you via phone. If you don’t meet our selection criteria, we’ll notify you via email that your application has been unsuccessful. Your application will be stored on our system and we may contact you in the future if we think you’re a suitable applicant for another vacant position.
3. Phone screening
If you meet our selection criteria and we’ve identified that you could be a suitable applicant, someone from our HR team will conduct a phone screen with you. This is a way for us to get to know you better as well as ensuring expectations around the conditions of the position align. We’ll ask you to provide a summary of your experience and why you’d like to work for Repurpose It.
4. Interviews
Pending a successful phone screen, you will then be invited to attend a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager, a representative from HR and any other relevant Repurpose It employee/s. This may be confirmed at the time of your phone screen, or we may call you once the hiring manager has reviewed your phone screen. Following the discussion, you will receive an email to confirm the details of your interview including the date, time and location.
You will be asked a mix of both behavioural questions and technical questions during the interview. A behavioural interview question aims to determine how you will act in a particular scenario based on your previous experience and logic. A technical question aims to find out more information about the experience and skills you have that are relevant to the position you have applied for.
The interview is also an opportunity to learn more about the position, the team and the wider organisation. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
There may be further interviews which we will confirm via phone. Unsuccessful interviewees will be notified via phone once the position has been accepted by the preferred candidate.
5. Reference checks (if applicable)
If you are the preferred applicant, we will ask your permission to conduct reference checks, if applicable. We require at least one referee who has managed you in the past, preferably from your current position, or, if not, from your most recent previous position.
6. Police check
All applicants are required to undergo pre-employment National Police History Checks (police checks) prior to commencement of employment in recognition of Repurpose It’s duty of care to its employees, labour-hire staff, contractors and resources. A HR representative will assist you in obtaining a police check via our system. Please note that a disclosable outcome does not automatically exclude an individual from working at Repurpose It.
7. Pre-employment medical check (if applicable)
Certain positions, including all operational and logistics positions, require applicants to undergo a pre-employment medical check, including drug and alcohol screen, prior to a formal offer of employment being made. This is to ensure that all Repurpose It employees are fit to perform the responsibilities of the position for which they have applied.
8. Psychometric testing (if applicable)
Certain positions require applicants to complete psychometric tests which are designed to measure your suitability for a role based on the required personality characteristics and aptitude (or cognitive abilities).
9. Job offer
After completing all of the above, and a hiring decision has been made, if you are successful, we’ll call you to make you a verbal offer of employment and then send your contract and paperwork electronically.
